A New Layout from our Fan of the Month!

Hey Crafty friends,  Phyllis here to share another layout using Blue Fern Studios products.
The Correspondence paper from the Sanctuary collection is a gorgeous patterned paper with hues of
brown and gray. I wanted to make sure that the pattern and color would show through,
so everything else for this layout had to be light in color.

Once I figured out my design I started placing my flowers and diecuts.

Then I used Blue Fern Studios Tattered Diamond Bits Chipboard and heat embossed the bits.
I added some cheesecloth, beads, and glitter to give alittle more interest.
Once I adhered everything down I got my acrylic paint out and did some flicking with the paint.

I used a paper punch to cut out some flowers using my Blue Fern Scraps.
I also used scraps to die cut and used them to create texture and my background.

Supplies:
Sanctuary Collection ~ Correspondence
Serendipity Collection ~ Imagination & Inspiration
Tattered Diamond Bits Chipboard
Breeze, Chili Powder and Fern Embossing Powders

I hope I've inspired you to create something beautiful today,  Blue Fern Studios has Amazing products to create with!

November's Social Media Highlights!

What?! Mid-November? I can hardly believe it!

Sandi here with you today sharing some November Social Media Highlights!

We love looking for YOUR work when we are out and about on Social Media and seeing the amazing things you create with our product! So, whether it's Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, be sure and tag us so that we don't miss a thing! It's also helpful when you mention the name of the product you've used. With over a 1000 products in the wholesale store, we want to be sure we've not overlooked what you've included.

Kana Abiko created this unique layout with a combination of paper collections, most notably Courtship Lane and Autumn Anthology by Michele Singh.  We love how Kana's altered the gazebo image from Autumn Anthology paper to make it look more like a little house. The window and photo behind it are such a clever idea! And look at that fussy cutting! You can see more of her creations Here and find her on Instagram at @abikokana.

We are especially excited to see that Jennifer Evans (Jenaroo) is back to scrapping after several years of pursuing her nursing degree! Look at this shabby-licious, layered beauty! Here she has used the Frolic collection along with the Discover chipboard and added a few of her signatures .. doilies and  flowers! To visit her blog, go HERE

Designer Paula Calvanico has also used our Sanctuary collection to create this beauty! Photo is of her and her hubby at 15 and 17! With this the month of Thanksgiving here in the States, we were drawn to her color choices and use of the pretty leaf embellishment. Paula blogs  HERE and is on Instagram at @paula_calvanico. Isn't true love something to be grateful for?

Next  up is this amazing layout by USA designer Heather Thompson. We love how she's altered the title piece and Persian Ornament Chipboard and used our Serendipity and Tranquility paper collection. This really puts us in the mood for a New Year's masquerade ball. Outstanding work, Heather! Please visit her at heifer21.wordpress.com and follow her on Instagram at @heifer21. You will love her attention to detail and wonderful techniques.

Mayu of Japan posted this amazing piece on Instagram where you can follow her at @mayucrop_sbtnc. The fussy cut work is what really grabbed us for a second, then third look! She's used our newest Memoires and chose the dark red to add some drama to her photo of a traditional Japanese rite of passage. Please visit her blog HERE

That's it for this month ... and what a great month of inspiration it is!
I hope you'll join me next month for a couple of special Social Media features!

Hello Blue Fern fans.  Today we are excited to announce the winner of our October Sketch Challenge, and to feature a few layouts from the challenge.  This month our winner is..........

Entry #4 is from Joanne from Canada.  Congratulations Joanne!  As the winner, you will receive a package of Blue Fern Studios chipboard. Please send an e-mail, within the next 7 days, to {valerie(at)bluefernstudios(dot)com} to claim your prize.  Here is the sweet layout Joanne created using the sketch.  What a beautiful way to use a chipboard frame.

Each month we love to feature some of the other layouts from the challenge, because we get to show off the beautiful ways in which you use Blue Fern products.  Here are few from the October challenge:

Jackie Clark's layout begins with an awesome photo, and builds from there.  Her use of the paper from the Sanctuary Collection, various pieces of chipboard, and awesome texture combine for a stunning look!

Mabel Sim has created the next layout.  She said she had limited supplies, but feels that might have let her creativity run wild.  We sure agree with that.  The watercolor she added to paper completely changes the look, and gives it such a dreamy look.

Our third feature this month is from Pam Ellis.  There are so many things to love about this soft, gorgeous layout.  The paper is from the Attic Charm Collection, and she has altered the chipboard pieces with various colors of embossing powder.  What a perfect layout for these adorable photos.

Thanks so much to all who entered our sketch challenge.  You just keep amazing us!

Our November challenge has been posted.  You can find a link in the sidebar.  We sure hope you will join us.

Memoires inspiration by Karolina

Hi guys!
Karolina here with my part of inspirations for you for October ;)
I was waiting for my papers from the new Blue Fern Studios collection Memoires and I can't make anything until it came.

Today I would like to show you how amazing these papers are! But Im pretty sure that you know it ;)

Captured

My first project is a cover of the notebook. I used papers from Memoires collection and one paper from the Birdsong collection. I used some colors like orange, magenta, yellow, pink. I think it looks very autumn.

I desided to use 3 different sets of chipboards. One of them (circles) I covered with embossing powders. First I put magenta powder on it and next I added sime lime powder. I love this effect!

papers: Memoires - twilight fable, calling cards, tale of treasures; Sanctuary - birdsong melody
Chipboards:  layering stems, broken rings, picture perfect,
embossing powders: raspberry, lime
glitter: burnt copper, cranberry, sunshine, candy shoppe
Books

My second creation is a layout in very shabby and romantic style. I found this beautiful photo of old books (I love old books, do you?) and some stripes of laces, I also used a chipboard lace and I tried to put everything together. Of course I also added some flowers and medias, but I didn't want to cover this beautiful lace too much. To break the quiet colors I decided to add some elements in purple.

What do you think about this style in my projects?

papers: Memoires collection
chipboards: dream catcher
embossing powders: oatmeal, it's a girl

Have a nice day! And see you in November!

September inspiration by Karolina

Hi guys! Karolina here. Welcome on the Blue Fern Studios blog ;) Today it's time for my September inspiration. Can you believe it? Time is running out so quickly!

This time I would like to show you 3 projects - layout and two canvases.

DREAM BIG

I had so much fun when I was creating this little canvas! I really like the background and turquoise accent in my composition. I used some dark vintage papers to create my composition and the chipboard piece - a little Dream big. I covered the chipboards with ginger embossing powder as well as a leaves.

CAGES

This layout only looks very cheerful. It's full of colors and embellishments, but I created this page to express my feelings. Not exactly good feelings. But I really like when my life, my thought can be an inspiration for my projects. Even though it's clear only for me ;)

Here I also used papers from few different collections. I do love panels chipboard from BFS! You can use it in so many projects and in so many different ways. This time I decided to use two panels.

BEAUTiFUL

And the last but not least my third canvas with funny photos of one of my best friend Weronika. Weronika is 3 years younger then me and she will be always like my little sister, especially I've known her since she was 3! It's a lot of time!

Here I also used a part of chipboard panel but this time I didn't cover it.

Ok, so that's all! I hope your monday morning was a little bit more colorful ;) Have a good week and see you in October!

September Inspiration With Debbie

Hi everyone, Debbie here with you today to share my layouts.
My first layout was created for the September Mood Board Challenge.  Absolutely love the mood board with all of the beautiful colors and textures. You can find all the details of the Mood Board Challenge here.  I chose to create a beach themed layout using the Seaside Cottage collection.  I was inspired by the colors, the shells, the sun and the textures of the sand and water.

I used the Whitewash paper from the Seaside Cottage collection for my background and added some subtle inking with peach ink to pick up the colors in the sunset.  Lots of layering under my photo with  the Voyage, Mermaid (side B), Glory and Calling Cards papers.

I embossed the Blooming Flourish chipboard with a mixture of Mushroom and Sea Mist embossing powders.  Tucked beneath the flowers I used The Crackle Bits chipboard which I embossed with Snow  and In The Navy embossing powders and added some Blue Ice Glitter.  I used flowers from the Attic Charm Daisies and Tranquil Roses.

Here you can see an additional flower from the Seaside Lilies and some shells along with some micro beads on the Crackle Bits chipboard.

I love mixing colors of the Imagine Ink Embossing Powders.  On my title, I used a mixture of Mushroom, Sea Mist and Petal.

My next layout was created using the Sanctuary and Tranquility paper collections.
I found the cute vintage picture on Pinterest.  Love the angelic little girls and the pop of pink coloring added to the picture.  I used the Sanctuary Conservatory paper for the background.  I added some subtle inking with some berry ink to the background paper.  Layering under the picture includes Sanctuary Calling Cards and Tranquility Serenity paper. I cut out some doilies using the Tranquility Serenity paper.  I ripped the doilies into pieces to add some additional texture to the layout.

The Boston Lattice chipboard sits under my picture. I embossed it with some dark brown embossing powder from my stash and added some Fuchsia and Mushroom Imagine Ink Embossing Powders.

To the right of the picture I used the Garden Daisies - Large Chipboard, embossed with Mushroom and Fuchsia Embossing Powers with a touch of brown.  I used the Attic Charm Daisies and added some brown micro beads in the centers and tucked in some brown Courtship Blooms.

The title is part of Laughter, Happy, Smile. Embossed with a mixture of Mushroom, Fuchsia and Brown Embossing Powders.

My final layout was created with papers from the Deja Vu  and Love Story paper collections.
I used the Atelier paper for the background.  I added some white inking around the outer edges of the papers and some random masking of small dots around my photo. Layering under the photo includes the DejaVu Calling Cards, Tresors and from Love Story, Calling Cards.

I embossed the Floral Wreath with a mixture of Black Sand, It's A Girl and Petal Imagine Ink Embossing Powders.  I cut the wreath into pieces and placed it around the picture.  Some micro beads were added for texture.  I used Attic Charm Daisies and Attic Charm Glitter Roses.

Underneath the photo I used  a Doodle Corner chipboard, embossed with Black Sand, Its' A Girl and Petal Embossing Powders.

The title piece is from Blissful, Jubilation, Patience.  I chose Patience for the title as I thought the girl in the photo looked so patient as she stood there waiting to get her picture taken.  I embossed it with some Petal and Buttercup Embossing Powders and added some inking.

I hope I have inspired you today.
Thanks for stopping by!

August inspiration by Karolina

Hello everyone! Karolina here.
Today I'm so glad to be sharing with you two creations - a layout using the fabulous new collection Seaside Cottages mixed with another collections and a canvas in a very sweet style using Attic Charm collection. My projects are always very reach and I'm using so many embellishments, layers, flowers, textures and color touches I really like this effect, because then you can read projects using your hands. If you know what I mean Hope you like it!

Fascination

Firstly my layout. I have used one of my favourite combination of colors - turquoise, blue, yellow and brown. It looks amazing, isn't it? On a base paper I chose a beautiful paper from Seaside Cottage collection and then I have built a composition with using differents turquoise-blue shades papers from few collections of Blue Fern Studios. I added also black accents to make my project more contrasty. Then I added some embellishments and flowers of course (a turquoise flower is my handmade flower! I'm proud of myself :D)

Papers: Seaside Cottage - Voyage, Regalia; Sanstuary - Bidsong melody; Serendipity - Calling Cards; Love story - Concerto; Paisley&Vine - Bohemian, Nature; Attic Charm - Curio, Sping Posy
Chipboards: Serendipity words 2, Quilted Page Panel
Glitter: Caribbean, Peacock, Burnt Cooper
Sweet

My second projects is a canvas with my sweet goddaughter Sophie. She is soo cute! But I have to admit that she is very naughty girl ;)
Now Sophie is 2 years old, but I really like this photo. I prepared very reach and high composition using papers from Attic Charm collection. There you can find so many pink and another soft colors papers. I added so many flowers, some embellishents and chipboards of course! To color my title and background chipboard pieces I have used embossing powders - fuhsia and petal and some pieces I left in natural color of chipboard.

Papers:  Attic Charm - Mercantile, Foyer, Calling Cards
Chipboards: Arrow words, Directions, Quatrefoil Panel, Leafy Page accents
Embossing powders: Fuhsia, Petal
